Grizzly Peak Winery

Tucked in a beautiful valley between Grizzly Peak and Mt. Ashland is one of Southern Oregon’s most respected wineries – Grizzly Peak. This serene place, operating since 2006, is rapidly rising to the forefront of Ashland, Oregon’s destinations.

Set on 40 acres, Grizzly Peak’s magnificent views surround the property 360 degrees. Fifteen acres are planted with vines; the rest of the gorgeous grounds are used for enjoyment. Grizzly Peak provides a large picnic area behind the tasting room. A manicured front lawn, with jaw dropping views of Mt. Ashland, is used for weddings and their signature events.

Al and Virginia Silbowitz, owners and operators, are a giving, generous couple. Recognizing their place has a spiritual quality, they determined Grizzly Peak to be a place that truly gives to and supports the community. This winery donates their lawns as gathering places for community fund raising events and for non-profits. In addition, Grizzly Peak hosts concerts and provides a meditation circle.

But don’t forget the wines! Rumor, a Roussanne/Marsanne blend, is a refreshing light, dry and floral wine, seemingly made to pair with summer appetizers.

The Chardonnay, aged in oak for several months, is a creamy, buttery California style wine. This could compliment a poached sauced salmon or any Britt Festival concert.

Grizzly Peak’s Le Mystere (the mystery) is a Bordeaux field blend of the big reds. It is barreled in stainless steel and has a mouthful of concentrated flavors. Le Mystere is great for pairing with a grilled steak.

The Syrah is another full-bodied red. This single varietal has a long finish that hints of smoke and pepper. The Syrah is excellent with barbecued ribs.

Grizzly Peak serves a Pinot Noir from nearby Kitchen Creek Vineyard, which has no tasting room at this time. The Pinot Noir is very fruit forward and quite bold when compared to Willamette Valley varietals.
