*SOU Brew: Red Raider Ale. The Southern Oregon Brewing Co. has joined forces with SOU on a new beer to celebrate SOU and to help market their new beer.*

*We recently posted an article on the Ashland restaurant scene and the new establishments that have recently opened! We include information on Home State BBQ, Brickroom, Kelly’s Crepes, Dobra Tea, and Eleven.

*ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum will have a fun Star Wars exhibit this weekend in Ashland!

*Ashland is having it’s semi-annual sidewalk sale this weekend.

*Fire season in Southern Oregon and Northern California continues, and there has been a mandatory evacuation declared due to the Happy Camp fire.*

*In the same vein, a small fire also was recently set ablaze within the boundaries of Crater Lake National Park.*

*A big, illegal marijuana operation was recently busted outside of Ashland. Roughly 5,000 marijuana plants were part of the operation.*

*Local writer Leslie Caplan shares a new piece of poetry, entitled “Stay with It”.

*Oregon’s Poet Laureate, Peter Sears, will be in town on Friday and Saturday for workshops and readings.*

*In the late 80’s, Ashland created a “Tree of the Year” program to raise public awareness about trees in the community and reward those who take care of them. The vote is coming up for this year’s tree of the year.*

*The City of Ashland is asking for residents’ feedback on the downtown Ashland beautification plans.

*A new music festival, downtownART+SOUND, has been in the works this year and is scheduled for next weekend in Medford. Over 80 bands will be participating at 12 venues!
