*High voter turnout in Ashland had a big impact on the recent voting results. 70% of voters in Ashland voted as compared with 51% in Medford and only 34% in Eagle Point. GMO’s were banned and libraries and the extension service received funding.*

*The Ashland City Council has denied the Normal Neighborhood Plan as currently constituted and has referred it to a working group to try to work out its many issues – like wildlife, water, and traffic concerns.

Pacific Crest Trail and Mt. Shasta

*The Mt. Ashland Ski Area posted a victory recently as a court lifted an injunction aimed to halt the area’s expansion by environmental groups. Expansion should still be on hold for a few years due to financial concerns.*

*The City of Ashland has posted two new topics on “Open City Hall” – asking citizens to provide input on proposed changes to the Recycle Center on Water Street and on Moving the Plaza Kiosk. Click on the links to learn about the issues and even leave your input.

*Two northern California counties are voting to secede from California in order to create the 51st State of Jefferson. The Oregon counties often considered part of the state are said to have about no chance at all at actually seceding.

*Blue-green algae and its potentially toxic side-affects have triggered a warning against water contact at Lost Creek Lake.*
