*We have a lot of fire related news to report this week. Let’s get started with our detailed report on the updates on the Southern Oregon wildfire activity that we posted on Monday.
*The Daily Tidings has a number of photos of the nearby Oregon Gulch Fire. There is also a time lapse video of the smokey plumes from the fire here.*
*There is good news with the Oregon Gulch fire as the firefighters have turned a corner in putting out the flames.*
*Ashland has placed additional restrictions to help cut down on any further fire risk. These include the banning of chainsaw use, using a weed whacker in tall, dry grasses, outdoor debris burning, and more.*
*Ok, last one…for fear of fire overload. There are a number of fires burning in nearby Siskiyou County in Northern California.*
*After just contemplating this very question just a couple of days ago, I came upon this article detailing current day gold seekers in Southern Oregon. It has become a fun day activity and hobby for some, and is legal without a permit in four nearby streams.
*The Southern Oregon University women’s soccer team has a preseason rank of #4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference coaches poll.*

*There was a black bear in Lithia Park nearly a week ago, which is the second sighting in recent history in the area. Bacteria levels are high in the water of Ashland Creek as well, so all are warned not to enter in or ingest the water.*
